If you can dream it, you can do it. This is the motto of 9 year old Guillaume Olivier, a South African boy with a passion for hiking.
A dream to be one of the youngest, if not THE youngest in South Africa to climb and summit Mount Kilimanjaro ,Tanzania in August 2020. A big dream for this young boy posed a small hurdle in the beginning; The minimum age to climb Mt Kilimanjaro requires him to be 10 years of age but with the assistance of a great trekking company, he wrote his own letter of motivation and received the required permission from the National Park Board at Kilimanjaro. The dates confirmed for the climb is 21 Aug – 30 Aug 2020.
With him and his family living in the beautiful Cape Town, the mountains and surroundings are unfortunately also subjected to extreme wildfires during the year. This means that the serene of fire trucks is not something strange in Guillaume’s neighbourhood. When he hears the Fire Fighters are on their way to a scene, he always takes a moment to say a prayer of protection over each and every Firefighter.
Having a huge appreciation for Emergency Workers, a heart to serve and now an opportunity to say THANK YOU in a big way – Guillaume will be doing this climb in Honour of BRAVE FIRE FIGHTERS – not only in his home town Fish Hoek, but also honouring those across the world.

Guillaume will definitely wave a Fireman Flag high when he gets to the top of Africa.
