I am a fun, loving Father, husband and a member of Christian Motorcyclists Association. On 18 November 2016, on my way to work on my wife’s motorcycle, a taxi drove in front of me, and I broke my back, which resulted in me becoming a paraplegic. I have certain medical needs. I use Bard’s Magic 3 intermittent catheters, with the sure-grip sleeve, which works best with my current job. I have been using it ever since my accident, and never once have I had a bladder infection, even with me working with grain dust every day.
Our Discovery medical aid paid for the sleeves under our PMB (prescribed minimum benefits) cover, but according to them it was covered as an “exemption”, and from now on they only approve 72 catheters per year, and I use an average of 180 catheters per month. That is why I am here asking for help. My even salary will not be able to cover all the costs.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
