Angel Alex was born on 17th February 2010 in Bulgaria. He was a premature baby and had a lot of challenges to face. Alex was born with hydronephrosis as well as a heart murmur. He had an operation at two months. Before that, he was admitted to ICU and then was transferred to another hospital where we were both separated from one another for three weeks. From Plovdiv we went to another hospital in Sofia. There the surgery was a success and even though I couldn’t hold him for a month or even breastfeed him I knew that he would soon be in my arms again.
Even though Angel Alex continued to be hospitalized I was comforted in knowing that the worst was over. When Alex was four years old we emigrated to South Africa to start a new life. Angel Alex has a big sister called Kristina and she is the light of his life. It was time to find a preschool for Angel Alex and so my family felt that he should go to a psychologist. When he was assessed the psychologist diagnosed him with autism. Since then, Angel Alex attends a special school for children with special needs and learning disabilities. Unfortunately, here in South Africa they do not have the knowledge or even funding from the government to help children like Angel Alex. I feel now that he is seven, he is a capable and intelligent child and he has outgrown the school. After going round in circles I feel that I have made a breakthrough and have found a brilliant organization called The Star Academy. I have already spoken to the Director and they are only too happy in admitting Angel Alex into their fine school.
However, I do not have the necessary funding for Angel Alex and I feel the time is of the essence in order for him to lead a normal and fulfilled life. I am reaching out to everyone and any little help would be highly appreciated. Much love.
