My Name is Bafana Monyamane, a young filmmaker from the Free State, and I have been invited to the Dhaka International film festival in Bangladesh early January next year. The invitation came after having made a short documentary called G-face the documentary about nothing. The documentary is was not nominated, but it earned me an invite to the festival youth workshop which is called “Dhaka Cine Workshop” where they have invited 35 young filmmakers around the world to take part in the event.
The film festival organisers told me that they can only pay for my accommodation, meals, and transport in Bangladesh, but I have to pay for my own flight to get to the festival in which I need funding for a plane ticket to Bangladesh.
I really would love to go to the festival as I see this is an opportunity for growth for a young filmmaker like me and also have lost out on an opportunity to attend a film festival earlier this year in England due to funds, I would not like to lose out on another opportunity like this again.
