Brindhavan Secondary is situated in Unit 7, Chatsworth, Durban. Most learners travel by public transport from the surrounding townships. The majority of learners cannot afford to pay school fees. As a result, the school is unable to buy desperately needed computer equipment and has to rely on sponsorships and fundraising to do so. Learners do Computer Applications Technology in grade 10, 11 and 12. Older CRT monitors need to be upgraded and school desks need to be replaced with proper workstations.
Learners were able to raise R5 500 last year to buy a new data projector. The amount needed for computer screens and workstations is much higher, that is why I am appealing to the larger public to help. Without a properly equipped computer room, learners will not be given the opportunity to learn computer skills, which are essential in the workplace. Please help us help our learners.
