If you had informed me that I would experience the worst chapter of my life during a pandemic back in 2019, I would not have believed you. Hi, my name is Alyssa Churchill, and I am proud to say I am a cancer survivor, and it is not a downhill battle most of the time, you can win too.
I was diagnosed with stage 2 acute leukemia in January 2020, but I only welcomed the fact that I had cancer upon getting a second opinion. From there things just fell apart like collapsed buildings. My husband and I’s relationship took a lot of knocks and my family was in a dark space.
I began treatment right away and did not think much of it, but our healthcare system is not what you would expect for a country like this. My hospital bills ended up amounting to $87,468.50 which we managed to raise with the help of a lot of people including family and friends.
Upon discussing money matters with my husband, we decided it best if we could do our part in the world and raise money for children with more immediate need of help. We believe no parent should have to bury their child and with the help of God’s people, we hope to be able to do more for them.
No one deserves an untimely death when we can do something to prevent it.
