My name is Tshepiso Martin Matekane, I am 32 years of age. I currently live in a location called Cosmo City. I grew up in Soweto and raised by a single mother who was/is a domestic worker. Growing up I never had the privilege of having toys, unless it was bought for me by my mother’s boss, which was only once a year on Christmas. A lot of my friends owned consoles and TV games, which was like a life of a luxury to me because I had never owned any of it.
All we had was arcade games which we had to pay 50 cents per credit and we made loads of money for the shop owners. In my current neighbourhood, we are surrounded by poverty and this is one of the major causes of crime, teenage pregnancy and drug abuse. This is why I started gathering the young boys roaming the streets to form a soccer team in order to keep them busy. Running a soccer team is not easy as we need funds for our soccer kit, soccer boots, travelling, association admin fees and a proper diet for the boys because we all know that you can’t do your best on an empty stomach.
This is when I came up with consultation Room; this platform will give us an opportunity to raise funds for the boys. We will need 2 x 65″ TV screens and two x consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) as a start-up. We will charge people a fee to play and the funds will go towards our financial needs.
Thanking you in advance for your support.
