HELP KIDS DO SPORTS – GOAL R5 000

R0 of R5 000 raised

Drugs, alcohol abuse and teen pregnancies among our primary school kids and teenagers are heart-breaking, yet it doesn’t seem to bother anyone anymore. I live in Hopefield, a small town on the West Coast of South Africa (approximately 5,000 inhabitants), where recreational facilities are a luxury.  The problem, however, starts with residents who have to travel (by minibus taxi) to their jobs or other towns. This places additional strain on families, and parents have little time to communicate with their children.

A little over 4 years ago, I decided to try and do something about the idleness of the kids and founded the Cape Coast Youth company. The decision was driven by the fact that no NGO or NPC has ever been successful (in our town) in terms of youth development. This is partly due to the inability of parents to work together, and the ruin of our children is all too clear. I am 61 years of age, turning 62 on the 16th of May, and although I have tried everything I could think of, funding remains my biggest headache. Up until now, I tried to carry all of the expenses, with businesses sometimes sponsoring prizes at events. One of the biggest headaches, however, is simply getting the kids to a sporting event, because the whole team has to travel to the next town by (expensive, minibus-) taxi.

Your contribution will change so many kids lives, and my promise is on my website and the video I make myself. I don’t want to make money, I want to help our kids. (On the pictures:  It was the initiative of the “Sport and Recreation”, a Government, NGO from a nearby town – Vredenburg) after I asked them to help me.  The coaches are from our local police officers.

Thanking you in advance for your contribution towards this cause.
