My husband and I both lost our employment in the beginning of the year. I have recently been employed on a four-month contract, which expires at the end of December 2017. My husband has not been that successful in obtaining a job, although he has been trying to start a business from home whilst looking for work. We are currently trying to survive off my salary, which just about covers our rent. I have not been able to pay school fees for our 2 girls in over 4 months and I am not able to pay the full amount required for our son’s daycare. We are also looking after my husband’s mother, who stays with us.
She helps out the best she can, where she can. My eldest daughter, mother in law and myself all require chronic medication, which we cannot afford and desperately need. We haven’t had food in our house for 2 months, we buy what we can on a daily basis because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. There are nights, where I do not eat in order to ensure that my family does. I cannot afford to buy clothes for my children, which they desperately need. We are now a month behind on our rent, our car requires fixing as we cannot transport our kids to and from school without it. We have run out of electricity more times than I can count. There are times we cannot buy bread or milk. We have cut all entertainment and luxuries. I have been hand washing our clothes in order to save electricity. All we need is help with paying the outstanding rent so that we do not lose our home, which we have called home for the past 4 yrs.
We also need to be able to pay a portion of school fees and buy food. We are not asking for monies or handouts for entertainment or luxuries. We just need a little help. I am willing to share financial statements and expenditure forms with whoever requires and offer complete transparency. This is the hardest thing I’ve had to do, but I need to feed my family. We just need a break.
