Grow Grid is a not-for-profit aimed at driving for real results in the climate change space in South Africa and beyond.
Our model is to install fully off-grid household solar systems, completely free of charge to the consumer.
The consumer will then pay a flat rate monthly fee for electricity. They will only pay for the electricity they use (just as they do currently with the municipal provider). However, our rate will be lower than municipal electricity, there will be no drastic increases in the near future. You will not suffer from load shedding power cuts, and you only pay for electricity until the COST of the solar system is paid off, then you no longer pay another cent for the generation of electricity, and you take full ownership of the installed solar system.
Besides the obvious financial benefits, this project also has major climate benefits, as we will reduce the amount of power, we use from coal power stations in South Africa.
Our system will work on a pre-paid electricity meter, so you will only pay for the power that you use.
We do not make any profit on our systems, you only pay for electricity until the system is paid off at COST (about 5 years, depending on your power usage).
Finally, every person who donates $3000US or more, will receive a completely free home solar system (grid tied) free and clear, with no monthly electricity payments required.
