SAVING OUR FARM – GOAL R150 000
We farm on Bainsvlei in Bloemfontein, we started 5 years ago with a chicken farm. The last two years were difficult due to the drought that caused the feed prices to go up. In March last year, we got a contract to raise calves. We just started getting back on our feet and paid a few accounts, but then came a sudden cold front with rain in November last year and we lost 538 calves!
Two weeks ago, Eskom cut our power, we have borrowed a power generator, but diesel cost too much to keep going. Our children’s school funds are behind, and we do not have money to pay for our 3 children’s school books and school clothes that they need to start the new year with. The banks now also want to take our two bakkies that we need for farming. We only need help to get us through 3 months, so that the new calves we get can provide us with an income again.
