Hi, my name is Qiniso Siphesihle Dubazana, from Durban, South Africa. I am a Wits University student, entrepreneur, and a Philanthropist. It’s a thrilling feeling to be accepted in the Global Youth Peace Summit. One can say many words about the excitement of being one of the young South Africans who was chosen to represent our country. Global Youth Peace Summit is a movement of youth, together in one space and connecting to one another.
I am keen on attending this extraordinary life-changing event in Kenya, Meru. It has key elements and objectives that makes one connect with others who want to change the world. It centralizes all humanity and diversifies unity, making us one, in one space. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go?
For me to visit Kenya, I need funding for my expenses. I have raised this campaign to help me raise these funds for me to visit Kenya and help others who are in need. Any amount(s) of money will be accepted, as we know, a little goes a long way.
The objectives of the Global Youth Peace Summit are as follows:
The Summit is a place for authenticity.
Every youth is empowered to be themselves, completely. The invitation is simple – come as you are. The Summit is not about being “peaceful”; it is about being real. The primary intention of the Summit is not about creating peace in the world. It is about each youth making the commitment to cultivate peace within their own hearts and minds and to walk in the world in a way that inspires others to do the same.
The Summit is a place for learning.
Through team-building exercises, leadership training, cultural exchange opportunities, and dialogue circles, the youth learn skills for conflict resolution, heart-centered communication, compassionate response, and peace-focused leadership.
The Summit is a place for connection and inspiration… The Summit unites young people from around the world and gives them an opportunity to see that beyond our nationality, ethnicity, beliefs, past experiences and present circumstances, we are all human beings who essentially want the same things: acceptance, love, equality, and peace.
This fundamental understanding ignites empathy and compassion. The Summit inspires youth to turn this compassion into action by giving them the necessary tools and support to make an impact in their homes, their communities, their world, among their peers and, most importantly, within themselves.
The Summit is a place for healing.
Some of the youth who attend have experienced traumatic circumstances: extreme poverty, religious persecution, child labour, gang violence, abuse, and neglect. Some have witnessed the atrocities of war and have literally run for their lives; many have been uprooted from their native cultures and are struggling to integrate into an entirely foreign world. By sharing their stories with others, Summit participants find themselves heard, celebrated, and empowered.
The Summit is a place to begin.
Following the completion of the Summit, youth are invited to participate and become members of the African Dream Network, a youth-led community service, and leadership development program. The African Dream Network unites youth from the Summit and youth who are completely new to African Dream Movement’s programs.
With that being said, I hereby would like to state that it is my best interest to attend such event, as it would make a huge impact in my life, while also impacting those who I have changed and also about to change. The summit runs from 8th of December 2017 to the 14th of December 2017.
Bringing together youth from over 15 countries, the Global Youth Peace Summit is a sustainable peace movement where cultural, religious and personal differences are respected and celebrated and our humanity is acknowledged as the thread that unites us all. Youth from different backgrounds, religion, culture, race, countries, you mention, all coming together to the summit to enhance their well-being and be influential to others in the society.
As a special added value of this event, I find the opportunity to network with other youth from the World, which is an exceptional opportunity for horizontal exchange of experience. I perceive this also as an occasion to familiarize with good practices as a channel for my personal development.
My attendance at this training is a wise investment and I would highly appreciate to be one of the participants.
