To all the readers who are reading our story, firstly, thank you!
We are a young family of 3. My husband, our son Logan who just turned 2, and myself. We live in a small rural town called Alldays in Limpopo province. Our closest hospital and shops are 160km away in Polokwane. My husband is the Reverend for our church, Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Suid Africa. He is the sole breadwinner of our family. We cannot afford a medical aid as his salary cannot allow it. I am a fine artist and try to help with an income by giving local art classes.
In October of 2017, we found out we will be having a new baby! Due July 2018. Because we have no medical aid, we cannot afford a private hospital. Government hospitals are not an option, because of the horrible conditions. All we want is to have our new baby in a safe, clean and reliable hospital.
So far we have managed to save a few thousand rands towards our goal, but without help, we cannot achieve our ultimate goal. We have found a good private birth clinic in Potgietersrust that we are thinking about going to. I have personally contacted multiple moms who have had their babies born there, with only the best commentary and reviews. The clinic is also much more affordable than a normal private hospital.
I am aiming to have a normal birth, because of the lower cost implications of it. Although with my first child’s birth I needed an emergency cesarean. The likelihood of having to do another cesarean is big. So we have to aim for that.
Please, if you can afford to help us, the appreciation we will have would be immeasurable. We are in a situation we never thought we would be in.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
