R0 of R60 000 raised

We need your support to realise kickboxer’s dreams. The hopes of our team to participate in the national championships in Pretoria later this month are dependent on the support of others.

This after the Kickboxing Association of SA was forced to change the original venue in Cape Town as a result of the drought in the province. As a result of the drought, no events permits are being issued for events of more than 100 people. The union’s application was denied, and we were only informed about this 3 weeks ago. The announcement was very sudden and not budgeted for my fighters and their families. With less than 3 weeks to go, we are frantically trying to raise the funds for the fighters travelling and accommodation.

The fighters have already forked out over R3000 each for the CT fighting kit and are battling to raise funds in such short notice.

Many of the team members are from disadvantaged backgrounds and have trained many, many years to participate in the nationals. We really do not want to miss out on this opportunity and have already had one fighter pull out due to this. Each fighter needs another R2500 to attend the championships, and the younger student’s parents also need to cover their own costs.

The championships also offer the fighters the opportunity to be selected for the national team, which will travel to Italy for the World Championships.

Not representing the team in Pretoria will be a double blow for the fighters who have put in hundreds of hours of training to get to this point. We really have a strong team and are confident we will do well. At the recent WP championships, held in Hermanus on 10 March, the team bagged 22 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Other efforts to raise money include fighters collecting money at robots, fish sale and house referrals. We still need to raise the majority of the funds to make the fighter’s dream become a reality and are appealing to the public to support our efforts.

We appreciate every cent.

Thanking you in advance for your contributions.
