Having won countless international choral competitions since its inception in 1972, the Tygerberg Children’s Choir, one of SA’s proudest musical export products, is widely regarded as one of the very best even- voiced children’s choirs in the world today. After being crowned Double World Champions at the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China in 2010, they have continued to excel and are one of the 40 top choirs in the world on the Interkultur World Rankings List. The choir celebrates a monumental 46 years this year, truly a remarkable milestone.
These highly talented children have, among many others, performed for ex-US President Bill Clinton, at the inauguration of Pres Nelson Mandela in 1994 and for Queen Elizabeth. The choir has won the hearts and souls of audiences wherever they go, and once heard, the vocal magic they bring forth can never be forgotten. From 4-14 July 2018, the choir will perform at the World Choir Games in Tshwane, South Africa. It will be the first time the world’s foremost choir competition will come to Africa and it will be an ideal opportunity for TCC to showcase their acclaimed prowess in such an international arena, on home soil.
There will be 22 000 active participants, 470 choirs from 96 countries. It will be the biggest choral spectacle this country has ever seen. The cost of attending the Choir Games will be R15 000 per chorister and will include the participation fee, transport, meals, and accommodation. It would be much appreciated if you could financially support my daughter, Abbigail, to enable her to attend the choir games.
