HELP MNQOBI WALK – GOAL R2 900 000
My name is Mnqobi, which means “the one who conquers in hopeless situations”, my parents tell me they gave this name because they believed I would not only conquer but do exceedingly in all things in my lifetime.
I was born with a rare condition called Tibial Hemimelia (TH). Which basically means my lower legs did not develop properly. The condition is so rare it is said to affect 1 in a million births worldwide.
I have been seen by some of the best, and top pediatric orthopaedic surgeons in South Africa. They have advised my parents that the only way they know how to help me is to amputate both my legs. I don’t want to lose my legs, I want to walk like my twin brother Philasande.
My mom and dad found Dr Paley who is all the way in Florida, USA, at the Paley Institute. He has worked extensively with children with my condition for over 28 years and has had many success rates in helping children with TH.
The procedure that Dr Paley will need to perform on little Mnqobi will cost $200,000, equivalent to about R2 900 000. This will be for the surgeries and rehabilitation to get him walking.
We are appealing to you to help our boy by donating and sharing his message with friends, family, colleagues and business partners, whom you think would also be able to assist with the medical bills of the complex procedure and #Help Mnqobi walk.
Your contributions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you in advance for your generosity and support.
