I am recently divorced and living in a town where it costs less to build your own house than to buy or rent an existing one. My ex and I share custody of our 15 year old daughter whom I will no longer be able to see apart from day visits as I will have to move out of my current rental home and into a room at a friend’s house, due to the extremely high rental prices in this town, where I’ve lived and worked for nearly 15 years. I cannot move to another town because what I would save on rent, I will have to then spend on fuel to get me to work and back.
After very careful research and planning, I discovered that I can buy a suitable plot and build a suitable house for slightly less than R800 000. I have a portion of the funds, but as I am 42 years old already, I don’t want to be paying off a bond at this stage of my life, for the next 20-25 years. I have given myself this year to get my living situation sorted out so that I can provide a home for my daughter. My only other option is to buy and build cash.This is where I require your help. I can never hope to save up R600 000 in less than a year, so I am pleading with you to please lend a hand.
