Hi,
I’m Nadia and created this campaign for my beloved mother. (Please read her story and keep her in your prayers). Back in 2014, my mom has been diagnosed with cervical cancer she received treatment at Universitas hospital in Bloemfontein, due to the fact that she had no medical aid.
After a long struggle, cervical cancer was treated as in remission. Follow up visits was attended but they failed to do the necessary blood test and scans and kept sending her home saying everything was still fine.
She had her last follow up at Universitas Hospital in December 2018 where they once again send her home after a quick checkup once again failing to perform any scans or blood tests.
At the beginning of February this year she started to experience pain in her abdomen area and this time we took her to Mediclinic where it has now been confirmed that although the cervical cancer isn’t present again it has spread to her liver. The biggest cancer lesion found was confirmed to be 9cm long.
She has a small hospital plan but not a full medical aid.
Her Doctor has confirmed that she will have to undergo intense chemotherapy that will cost roughly R9000.00 a week and that’s excluding any blood tests and she will have to attend chemo once a week. This brings us to the sum of roughly R40 000 a month just for treatment and blood tests.
A bit about my mom:
She is a loving person that will go out of her way to help others.
She raised me and my brother to the best of her ability and therefore we will always be grateful, she is also a loving wife.
She is a granny of one boy aged 4 and one girl aged 2.
She is absolutely in love with any animal she comes across and will take them all in if she has the chance.
She will be celebrating her 50th birthday this coming July.
