KEEPING CHARLOTE IN SCHOOL – GOAL R 90 000
Dear Facebook friends and family I need your help. It’s not easy for me to ask for help but, I find that this time perhaps I just can’t do it on my own.
Sophe and I have the privilege to call ourselves house parents at res called Azalea (Katjiepiering). I’ve met amazing young women here who have taught me so much about love.
Sadly, I’m often faced with such deep problems and issues that negatively affect my girls and their ability to complete their degrees. Let me tell you about one of them. She grew up in a broken home with a father who cared nothing for her and no mother. No relatives and a very young niece she’s been taking care of. In grade 11 she decided on her own to apply for university, achieving high marks. She performed well and was in the golden key society for high achievers. NSFS paid her fees.
Unfortunately, the feeling of abandonment and indifference from her family soon caught up to her and affected her ability to perform well at school one year. All her years of struggling without her mother, a household of alcoholics and more nearly destroyed her. I admire her so much. She’s fought through it all and pulled her academics back up.
She’s a dedicated member of our res and even placed on an EC in one of the UP faculties. Sadly, her road to a successful future is about to be cut off. Her funding has been stopped and she will have to leave here with an unfinished degree and very little prospects for her future.
I’ve done all I know how to do up to this point. If anyone here could possibly help by paying a small fee into her student account-a university of Pretoria account I promise, you would have helped me save just one person out of so many with similar stories to tell.
The struggle of our students is so deep. To give you an idea, I’ll be putting together 4 food packs from my house so that 4 of my girls can eat until they finish their exams. This number steadily rises as my week continues. Dropping our due to financial needs and emotional problems from home is also common.
Please help me in preventing this student from becoming another bad stat. She a kind and hardworking young woman and is worthy of my respect.
I hope you will help with a donation.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
