My name is Adios Balamos and I am 27 years old. I have been living in South Africa as a refugee for the past 6 years. Before I mention the reason for this campaign, I would like to give you a bit of background information about myself.
Pardon me if my English is not so good, I am not English speaking, but I will try my best. I crossed more than 4 country’s in order to get to SA and it was the worst journey I have had in my entire life. It was an illegal border crossing journey, and I still have terrible nightmares about the trip. Getting to SA was a dream come true. After I got to SA, not knowing anybody or having friends or close relatives, made my life very hard for me to survive. I used to sleep on the street’s and spent nights outside bus stations and Police Station corners.
I Have been doing all kinds of jobs to put food on my table and being a foreigner in South Africa, not having necessary schooling or documents, I have not been able to get a work permit. At the moment am doing part-time, labour jobs and rented a small room for R1000 (at least am no longer sleeping on the street’s). I came to SA to overcome my financial problems, but instead, life is getting harder and harder, I couldn’t send my sick mother to the hospital and am not able to help my parents, it’s even getting difficult for me to get my daily meal.
I am hoping that this campaign will help me overcome my financial issues. I am humbly asking for your assistance. I have few business projects and I need +- R80,000 for a car/bakkie or minibus. This would be life-changing for me. It will change several people’s lives as they are depending on me.
Thank you very much for your help and for your time.
