My family is in the early process of immigrating to New Zealand after my dad got a very good job offer there.
Since we have been struggling quite a bit financially, we have just enough funds to get us there.
Unfortunately, we do not have the finances to immigrate our 3 pugs with us, which is a heartbreaking story for the whole family.
For a dog to immigrate, we need to make sure they get the ‘all clear’ from our vets here in South Africa (it takes 6 to 8 months of regular vet check-ups), which leads up to the actual flight to New Zealand.
In NZ they need to be quarantined for a further 10+ days, making a bigger financial burden.
We have had our pugs since they were puppies and we love them very dearly, I really don’t want to leave them behind. We’ve been saving money for a while, but it just won’t be enough to get them all 3 there, and since they are a family, we cannot take one without the other.
I love my dogs very much and I wouldn’t be able to put them in someone else’s care because, in the end, no one can look after a dog the way you do.
