My name is Mark Cloete and I want to help my gardener from Malawi, Sydney Mkandawire.
I asked him to write a letter that I can use for this campaign:
“Good day. Hoping this message finds you in good spirits.
Sad to announce the disaster that has happened on the 3rd of Jan 2022 at home, Tcharo, as a result of heavy hailstorm that struck the village between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Four big houses have been destroyed, including mine.
The other two belong to my brother’s son.
Lots of property, including clothes, food stuffs and many household items have been destroyed.
Families are homeless. They need food, shelter, etc.
It is a very big blow to the family, and we don’t even know where to start from.

Sydney has been working in South Africa for a couple of years and haven’t seen his children for years. He’s got a wife and three daughters.
It is difficult to get a permanent job in SA if you’re a foreigner and he worked as a gardener at several houses. He is a carpenter of trade and was also a fisherman in Malawi.
Every time he wants to go home, something like above happens and he has to stay to make money. I would love if we could help him go back, with enough money to repair the damages and buy food for his family.
