Silver Creek School is a small private school outside the small rural mining town Mooinooi in the North West Province, South Africa. For 10 years now the school has been operating in old farm buildings and sheds. What sets our school apart from other average schools is the fact that we manage to accommodate learners with minor learning barriers such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and attention deficit disorders while still educating them in the same environment with the rest of their peers. In this way, they get the necessary support and assistance they need to achieve without feeling left out or different from other learners. Our current location limits the number of learners we can accommodate and also has no adequate surroundings for sports fields and facilities. This year we have managed to start construction on a new school with new buildings where we hope to offer better-equipped classrooms and facilities as well as sufficient resources to improve the level of education our learners receive. In order to achieve this goal, we are still in need of funding to acquire much-needed resources such as books, computers, school furniture, and sports equipment. We also need funding to complete the building project that we have started.
