R2 420 of R15 000 raised

Palesa “Deejay” Manaleng is a journalist at eNCA, a student at the University of Johannesburg and a National Athlete.

On September 10, 2014, Palesa was involved in a cycling accident. The brakes of her bicycle failed while she was cycling downhill, she hit a pavement and flew into a palisade wall.

She dislocated her spinal cord, broke two ribs, punctured a lung, fractured her shoulder and sustained a head injury. She is now a complete paraplegic.

She has represented South Africa at two para-cycling World Cups and has ranked 8th in the World for two years. She has been named a national champion in para-cycling for two years and a national champion in athletics for two years.

Before her accident Palesa was an active sportswoman. She ran 10km races, played hockey and soccer just to name a few sporting codes. She dreams of representing South Africa at World Championships and Paralympics. She needs to raise R 15 000 by May to participate in the OCAL2018 Journey for change.

This annual awareness and fundraising initiative is a non-stop 24 hour, epic 10 day journey from Pretoria to Cape Town, culminated in the FNB12 OneRun undertaken by a team of “ordinary” runners, and hand cyclists.

OCAL 2018 JOURNEY FOR CHANGE is not only being run to raise awareness around “disability” but will also be raising funds for children with Special Education Needs (LSEN) in the Northern Cape.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
