Pieter Beer was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer in April 2017. He started his first chemo treatment in July 2017 and have continued until November 2017. He also had two sessions of radiation (strongest possible) after the chemo. The family was told on the 16th of January 2018 that treatment was no longer an option, that neither the chemo or radiation had any effect on the cancer. We were shattered by the news.
We were told about an alternative treatment that is not covered by any medical aid and extremely expensive. The treatment per month is approx R6k per month (excluding the special diet), and treatment will be for a minimum of 3 months.
We want to keep him alive, no matter what it takes. The doctors might have given up hope, but as long as there is breath, there is life.
