I am a young father of 22 years old, and I work as an AutoCAD draughtsman, since the day I started working full time in 2016. I have used the same laptop computer since the day I started my studies to become a draughts person in 2014. My Toshiba laptop and I have done everything CAD related together and has been the source of all my professional work, but lately, it has been dying down on me. I have gone from Hard Drive problems in the beginning of 2016 to software problems, to now cooling problems coupled with the CPU overheating. Usually I wouldn’t have an issue with making do as we always have, but it’s getting riskier and overly expensive to keep doing repairs, and I can’t keep up with the costs, because the slowing down of the computer is slowing down the rate of my income, which affects my family and my monthly expenses. I am sacrificing meals each day to guarantee my family can eat (without them knowing), but I can’t keep up physically anymore, I am getting sick easily, and I can’t do this to my family.
I recently became a father of a beautiful little girl, who is turning 3 months old, and she is the absolute star of my life. My fiancé has been my rock and guiding light since the time I first met her, she has stuck with me through all my hard times and given me someone to constantly remind me what life is really about, which is our children’s happiness and futures. I struggle with bipolar type II each day which affects my depression/anxiety even further, but the motivation to do better in life, and to not dwell on the negative lies within the happiness that my daughter and fiancé provide for me.
Now with all this stress of a failing computer, which means the loss of work, I am becoming snappy towards my partner and hopeless in my thoughts. The funds I am asking for will go purely towards the rebuilding of a work computer, not a laptop any longer, instead, a desktop computer that will be cheaper and easier to fix in the future should something happen, once again. I have a monitor and mouse/keyboard, so I will not be wasting funds either. The computer that I would need to build up, has to be able to handle the 3D software and render requirements of most CAD applications, hence the expensive price to build.
I am not looking to buy fancy parts or accessories, but I want to ensure that I won’t spend the next few months trying to upgrade any other parts. Any funds left over after rebuilding the computer will not be squandered, but paid forward, because any help is always appreciated in today’s world. There’s so much cruelty and hate today when you see good – you value it.
