Hey there,
Thanks for stopping by 🙂 My story starts with me being offered a place in the 4-week foundation mental health placement in Sri Lanka with SLV Global. I have to pay the fees and flights myself, so I would really appreciate your help.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Health Sciences and Social Services) psychological counseling degree at the University of South Africa. I have a passion for global mental health, and I want to learn more about how cross-cultural factors impact mental health access and treatment. I’ll be focusing on promoting positive mental health by boosting service user’s confidence, self-esteem and improving key life skills.
Why am I doing this?
As a psychology graduate, I have a passion for helping people with pain. Sri Lanka is in need of more psychological support because there is a lack of qualified mental health professionals. I will be lending a helping hand by creating projects that are useful in psychiatric hospitals, residential care homes, where I’ll run therapeutic activities for those with mental health concerns or additional needs.
I will teach conversational English and role model life skills to youths and at risk children.
My Dream:
I aim to promote mental health and not a mental illness. I will be a part of bringing about positive change and taking home the skills and experiences I’ve learned on the placement to further help others in my home country. This is a great opportunity for me to gain hands-on psychology experience while helping others as well.
I’m just a girl asking you to please help her help others.
Thank you so much for your time and your support is highly appreciated.
Thank you!
