HONOURING MY LATE HUSBAND, VETERINARIAN, DR GEORGE SNYMAN – RAISED R 27,570
Dr. George Snyman was both a brilliant wildlife as well as a domestic animal veterinarian. He had a passion for animal rescue, rehabilitation, and sterilization in order to prevent unwanted litters.
Tragically he passed away in a helicopter accident last year. He can no longer dedicate his skills and time to making a difference and therefore I am going to make a difference for him on what would have been his 34th birthday.
I will be raising funds to have 34 dogs/cats from impoverished areas sterilized. The organisation that will receive the funds and choose the animals is an organisation which we truly admire and work closely with, Domestic Animal Care-Ellen Dunning NPO. (Please check out their facebook page if you looking to adopt a new family member).
GIVING BACK TO THE SENSEI – RAISED R 47,483
Irv Ginsberg is probably one of the most underrated, and understated figures of our community. In his long career, he has taught, guided, and mentored hundreds and hundreds of people.
Life, as it happens, has, however, started to catch up to him. Over the past 6 months, he has made multiple trips to the hospital where he has suffered a barrage of conditions, which have rendered him unable to teach or work. Medical expenses are catching up, and without him being able to work, he is not going to be able to afford the high cost of medical aid premiums.
We, his family, are appealing to anyone who can contribute anything to his cause. Raising funds for Irv will allow him to recover at home, to full strength, so that he can get back to doing what he loves. The smallest amounts will go a long way. Floods – after all – are caused by raindrops.

On the morning of the 25th of March, This precious human being Miss Prudence Khuzwayo was on her way to her place of work when she was viciously attacked and mauled by a pack of 5 dogs. She has sustained severe injuries and is in a great deal of pain, the injuries are mostly to the back of her legs and arms but she has puncture wounds on the back of her neck as well. She was treated at a government hospital and a few hours later, she was sent home. We have managed to get her admitted into a public hospital where she is currently at. She has suffered severe trauma from this whole ordeal and tells me that she is scared to sleep as the whole thing happens all over again in her dreams. Prudi is the soul bread winner in her household at the moment, staying in her two bedroom government home is herself, her two elderly parents, her 2 grown up daughters and her 2 year old grandson. Prudence has an extremely long road to recovery and these funds will make her load a little or a lot lighter, the funds will aid in doctors check ups, medication, medical supplies and if we absolutely need to an emergency treatment for theatre for sepsis.
HELP ANDREA – A VICTIM OF CRIME! – RAISED R 53,100
The 15th September 2018 – it was a night like any other, or so it started. Andrea (25 years old at the time) was out with her friends for supper. It had been a good night and she was heading home. Standing on the curb chatting to her friends, before getting into the car, when her life changed.
A restaurant down the road had been robbed, a car had given chase and the robbers let off 3 gunshots. The third bullet hit Andrea. The bullet went through her ribs, her lung, and her spine. At the time, the good news was that it hadn’t gone through her spinal cord, but her spinal bone. Unfortunately, the shock waves traveled and damaged her spine – leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. It is extremely difficult to get Andrea the care and rehabilitation that she requires with the financial constraints. We now appeal to you, if you are in any way able to contribute something small to go towards Andrea’s recovery we would greatly appreciate this.
HELP AN EXCELLENT PHARMACY STUDENT COMPLETE HIS DEGREE – RAISED R 42,000
A young man approached us in our pharmacy Facebook group requesting assistance. I immediately felt a tug on my heart to do what I can to assist. We always feel that others should help and often forget we can too. No matter how little the contribution, every drop counts.
This man is a distinction student and whether by merit or by compassion for his cry, should receive help.
As pharmacists we are primarily about care and when one of our own is in need, no one should hesitate to donate money towards this fund raiser.
Thank you all in advance for making a difference, changing this man’s life and giving him a one of a kind, early Christmas gift!
ZOÉ LIFE AFTER RAPE – RAISED R 60,500
Zoë was raped 93 times from the age of 4 up until she was 18 years old. This does not include the number of times that she was molested and otherwise sexually assaulted. 77 of these time were at the hands of her own father. He passed away in 2017 and only a year later Zoe mustered the courage and started sharing her story. She was terrified of him and what he might have done to her if she would have told anyone. Unfortunately, this type of extensive and deep trauma is so life- and mind shattering that the process to restoration is a very long and costly one.
Diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder and complex post-traumatic stress disorder, she has only ever known death. After 25 years of silence about everything she had been through, she has finally found a voice and is on a journey to find life. But she can’t do this alone. We need your help.
