gofundme crowdfunding fundraising South Africa

R0 of R1.2 million raised

Bikers Lives Matter is running a fundraising for one of our members who is in need of a device that will enable her to walk again, albeit assisted.

In August 2017, our member was riding her motorcycle when she pulled into her yellow lane after noticing a motor vehicle advancing towards her at high speed from the opposite direction. Although she came to a complete stop, in the yellow lane, she was hit heads on by the driver of said vehicle who made no effort to avoid the accident and she suffered a serious spinal cord injury amongst other injuries. The accident caused her to be wheelchair bound.

Although our member suffers from constant neuropathic pain and never complains, is wheelchair bound and is unable to ride again, she decided to open her heart and donate motorcycle gear towards bikers who ride every day, no matter what the weather, to deliver food, medication, blood samples, court papers, motor spare parts and more. This contribution of gear will be distributed nationally to the neediest riders who form part of our economy, but who are mostly ignored from a personal protection perspective. This donated gear was valued at (R956 000.00) Nine Hundred and Fifty-Six thousand Rands.

Our member would like to remain anonymous as in her words “I am a giver and not a receiver” and Bikers Lives Matter will be running a fund raiser for her to be able to afford the device she needs. The fundraising will be run on a national and international level and businesses and individuals are invited to contribute to this needy cause.

Prior to the accident, she was a highly qualified advanced tactical firearms instructor, moderator and assessor and has lost all her qualifications due to the accident and has been declared unfit to work ever again. Knowing her for quite some time, it is very frustrating for her, as she needs to depend on others for basic needs. She was a very active and independent woman including riding 20kms on her mountain bike on a daily basis, hiking and gym. Ottobock created a device that our rider can use to assist her to be able to walk again. Losing the ability to walk is life changing for anyone, and the possibility to assist her to walk again, although assisted, fills our hearts with excitement. Although she also has very limited movement of both hands, the device will enable her to lead a more normal life, and do things that we take for granted like walking the dog, going to the mall, shopping, and general wellbeing. It will also aid in strengthening her other leg and prevent future shoulder problems, organ failures, improve blood circulation, and promote nerve regeneration.

Thanking you in advance for your generosity and support.
