Safe Haven Children’s Centre is a home away from home that protects vulnerable, ill and abused children and their families who are from out of town.
Safe Haven supports the needs of the children in the most dignified and compassionate way during the child’s hospitalisation and recovery.
Accommodation is offered to the children and their families who cannot afford the high cost of hotels and the daily travel to and from hospitals whilst receiving treatment.
This year a family of seven were brutally burned in their home in a Xenophobic arson attack. Three children survived with horrific burns and were left with nothing, losing their parents and two sisters. They will need ongoing treatments until adulthood.
We have managed to put smiles on the children’s faces by providing a stable and loving environment for the family at the Centre.
However, we are in desperate need of clothing, food and general supplies. We have no supporting source of income and reply on donations.
In 2013 our Patron, Archbishop Desmond Tutu unveiled the Children’s Centre.
He said: “When you have a traumatised child who is ill…and you don’t have accommodation…the Centre is here”. He added, that initiatives like the Centre “puts a smile on God’s face”.
Your support and generosity would be greatly appreciated.
