This is a bit of a long one (it wouldn’t be from my heart if it wasn’t!)
My late father always used to say that charity starts at home… and it does, that includes friends and family alike for me.
I don’t want to bore you with stories – nor the how and the why, they’re no longer important.
For peace of mind, there are no drugs or addictions involved in this one.
The bottom line is that a mommy friend is in Desperate need of help.
A friend I have known for close on 15 years now. A friend I have stood with in the best of times – and the worst of times. A friend who feels too humiliated and embarrassed about the situation she’s in… and upon finding out the troubles she’s facing – I have encouraged her to put pride aside and ask for help.
And ask for help within a safe, judgement free, finger pointing free space. If we can’t do that, then what has the world become? ?
She’s 34 weeks pregnant – has lost her job due to time off for severe pregnancy complications, and the father has decided fatherhood is simply not for him – with medical aid cancelled and no contributions coming in at all.
Her family are doing absolutely everything they can, but have lost nearly everything – to the point where adoption has now become a discussion point. I just can’t stand by and watch this family go through this.
As it stands she has a bottle sterilizer and a few pieces of baby clothing for her soon to be little boy.
She’s registering with JHB Gen – with no other choice, as she is no longer on medical aid…
However, her Dr strongly recommends she go to a Private hospital, due to her first pregnancy resulting in transfusions and severe medical complications. Thus she has to have a C-Section.
She just does not have the R65k needed, nor anything near it, to do so.
I know everyone is struggling and battling on some front – so please don’t feel obliged or pushed into helping.
This is merely a desperate plea I’m putting out, to see where and if I can help my friend.
Maybe, just maybe you might yourself, or know a friend / sister / brother / uncle / cousin / work colleague or company, that’s able to help with any little bit towards this burden.
She’s looking for work, for as soon as she’s able to get back after baby is born.
I never, EVER want someone I love to have to go through something like this!
All I ask is that we try – and if something comes of it, we’ve made a huge difference in this harsh world!
For now, we are keeping her name in confidence… it’s a horrid place to be and for sake of her and her family I’d like to honour her anonymity. (I know that’s a really big ask – to help someone who hasn’t been named…)
