My name is Francois van Schalkwyk. I have a passion for the outdoors and a love for animals. I have decided to build pet-friendly backpackers accommodation in Magoebaskloof Limpopo. I have already started with the project and is halfway there.
Unfortunately, I have run out of funds, and there are a few things that cost money to complete my dream. I have made a few plans to bring my budget down, by gathering resources for free to carry on as far as possible. I have already spent about R490k (life savings), and a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where I am now.
I have a job, but it only covers my living expenses (rent, food, transport and cell phone). I have cut all other costs and luxuries from my life. Over the weekends I also do activities with paying customers, such as Sunday Dog walks (where I make a nice breakfast for the owners and their pets), guided hikes and walks to try raise funds to carry on building.
I physically work after hours and weekends building my backpackers, as I can not afford staff and contractors to do it for me.
