The past few years I’ve helped many organizations and people with projects to raise funds, but I guess it’s never easy when you have to talk about what you want or need for your own projects.
This is my humble and maybe small beginning, to a big dream. For so many years I have this dream to start a Safe House for abused and vulnerable children in our community in Paarl, which will be called, Kairos House of Hope. I am passionate about children, and I guess like many people, I just want the best for each and every child, no matter their race or where they live.
For the past ten years I worked for a NPO, where I was the programme coordinator. For every child who attended the programmes, there was a plate of food, everyday. My concern was always about what’s happening when those children are at their homes. Are they safe? Do they have something to eat? What if they suffer under the abuse of one or both of their parents or carers?  I know I cannot help every child who crosses my path, who is neglected, abused or vulnerable, but I believe we can at least help one child at a time.
The Social workers often ask me to take children in my care, when they have to remove children from their abusive and drug addicted parents. Unfortunately, I don’t have my own house, so I’m never able to take kids when a call comes through. As a Safety Parent I am regularly in consultation with the Child welfare Organisation in Paarl and attend their workshops, and information sessions.
My biggest need is a house, which I can use as a place of safety, Â If I can raise enough money. My hearts’ desire is to be able to be a mother or carer to hopeless children to give them the assurance, that there’s still hope, no matter what anyone told them. I want to make a difference in a child’s life, even if it’s one child at a time. I would love to be able to create a safe space for a Child or chidren in need.
I hope there are people who can ‘hear’ my heart’s desire, and share in my dream by donating towards a Safehouse for vulnerable and abused children. I can promise that children in my care will get unconditional love, will have a stable environment, will have  balanced meals, have spiritual and emotional support, and because the children will be referred to the Safe house by Childcare Services, they will also have the support from them.
