I write this letter to humbly request sponsorship for my trip to go and play Water Polo in Eastern Europe in the Serbia tour for 2019. The reason I am asking for sponsorship is that I was approached by the East Coast High-Performance Water Polo Academy to play in Serbia. I was offered this once in a lifetime opportunity and I have to pay R32 000 in total for the cost of the tour.
My name is Nqobile Phiri, I’m 16years old of age and I stay in Umlazi. Currently, I attend Durban High School, where I play Water Polo as a goalkeeper and I have been playing for the school 1st team. I started when I was in grade 9 and now I am in grade 11.
I used to struggle to play water polo because of my weight and through my hard work, determination, dedication, training every morning and evenings at school, I now weigh 105kg from 120kg. I played for KZN under 14 in 2017 and under 19B last year; the coach saw that I have potential and wanted me to play for the u19B even though I was only 15. That same year I made the u16 tournament team for the DHS u16 tournament and was successful as a goalkeeper.
I will be grateful for any contribution towards the R32 000 and I will appreciate any assistance for this tour, which will help me gain experience in water polo to help achieve my goal to play for the South African u19 team.
