As many of you know, my brave and beautiful sister Lexi is a cancer survivor. After being challenged by multiple complications during her diagnosis, cancer treatment and during her remission, she continues to smile and spread sunshine wherever she goes. I decided to climb Kilimanjaro with my best friend who lost her mom to breast cancer last year. Cancer is a nightmare of a disease. It’s indiscriminate and tears lives apart overnight.
For all of those that have felt trapped and stuck; I’m walking with you and for you. To all of you who have felt everything is impossible; this one is for you. To those who have lost a loved one to this disease; this one is for you. And to you, Lex, for climbing every mountain so bravely and beautifully, this one is for you. Cancer Babes is a brilliant initiative aimed at improving the lives of South African women.
Let’s raise the awareness and support of women facing the cancer battle themselves or with their loved ones and to those who have lost the fight too. Let’s fight this disease together. After all, all we have is each other, right?
