TIME TO START FRESH – GOAL R320 000
I would first like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my story.
I’m a 30-year-old male from Johannesburg, I live with a neurological muscular disorder called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT). This is not entirely about what I live with, it has more to do with the silly decisions I have made since I left high school and The situation it has put me in. I’m currently about R300 000 in debt. Growing up, my mother always took out loans to help us get through the month. Having left school and gone straight to work, I was brought up with the same mentality. It’s only the last few years I’ve realised the situation this has put me in.
However, when it comes to the family what do you do? You always choose family. Having worked my way up in business along with it came the increases and along with increases more debt. We have never been in a position whereby we can just get through the month and not worry. I know once I get rid of my debt I’ll be able to do that for myself and my family. I currently support my mother who is unemployed and I share the costs of the house we live in with my sister.
There are a number of operations I require on my feet, CMT is currently incurable, although they are working for a cure, I’m not sure it would even affect me as I do not know what form of it I live with. CMT is a hereditary disease and this is something I have inherited from my mother. My mother’s feet are in far worse condition than mine. I would love to be able to pay for the support (shoes, inner soles) she needs to be able to walk better. I’m not asking for the money to pay for the operations as I know I’ll be able to save up and afford them once I clear my debt.
I humbly come to you all to ask if you could help me get my life back on track. I solemnly promise to close all my credit cards once, each one is paid off. Thank you again for taking the time to read this and for any amount you choose to donate.
