URGENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT – GOAL R 60 000
Seru Maine got injured on duty in 2012 and the necessary medical protocols were not followed correctly by the company.
On the day of the accident, the doctor had informed him he was instructed by management only to clean the wound and stitch him up after he had complained about headaches and backaches.
Seru continued to complain about his injuries but he was just ignored and victimised at work. His condition has now deteriorated to the extent whereby he can no longer work, I took over as Shop Steward and ensured he was not forced to work in his condition we started the medical boarding process but the company keeps dragging their feet. They asked him to get a quotation of the medical assessment so they can help out financially, he did that but the company made a U-turn on the offer to help.
The application opened with insurers will be expiring soon which means we will have to start the process from scratch and the public health sector will take close to a year or more to complete the assessment due to Covid19 and I fear Seru’s mental and physical health cannot endure much more setbacks.
He has been crying for close to 8 years and my wish is to see him being medically boarded and spending his last years with his family.
I’m asking all those who are able to help to do so. We might need more than the initial amount due to transport and medication but what is more important now is that he go for his medical assessment so we can submit the outcome with the relevant insurers.
