My sister, Melissa has been fighting cancer for the better part of 2 years now. It started off as a lump in her beast. After a check-up she was called back to the hospital for a more thorough investigation. When she eventually received the results she was told that she had breast cancer.
Being brave my sister went ahead with her course of treatments and medications. Once she was ready for the choice to do the surgery, she opted to remove both breasts.
It was a long road to recovery but she finally arrived at the point where after much tears and heartbreak and depression she was told the cancer was gone.
Overjoyed she began the restoration process of her breasts. However, that had complications of its own as so much tissue was removed that she had to begin the long process of transferring body fat to her breasts. This process itself was going to last for 2 years and involved multiple surgeries every 2 months.
A few months later she discovered another lump in the same area and went for a checkup. After another inspection, they discovered that there had been a few cancer cells that had hidden and was now making an appearance. This time, however, it was back with a vengeance and she now has late stage 2, early stage 3 cancer and it has spread to her throat as well.
Now beginning the process again I am wanting to help her. These funds will help finance her treatments and give her a bit of confidence as one of the biggest struggles of her journey was the loss of her hair. She became very attached after regrowing her hair after the first treatment and now she has lost it all. I am wanting to give a bit of that confidence back.
It’s really important for me to see that she is getting everything that she needs. She has been through so much on top of this and has so much to give.
Please help me surprise her with some happiness in these dark times. She is the light in many people’s lives and has the potential to do so many great things.
