The Change Room is a Non-Profit Organization reaching out to alcoholics and drug addicts in the Northern suburbs and surrounding areas. Many adults and youth are facing daily influences of drug and substance abuse through socio-economic challenges, unemployment, and they become addicts with no help or support system. Some of the adults and parents of these youth do not have the knowledge of how to deal with this and they can hardly afford to send their children to a rehabilitation centre for recovery. It is through this need that we have started The Change Room Recovery Centre.
The program provided consists of a minimum of 3 months, and continues to a duration of anything from 6 to 12 months, depending on the willingness of the patient. This program is a 12 step method proven to be very successful worldwide. In conjunction with the Rehabilitation centre, we have a halfway house which empowers the patient during his/her recovery period by means of a skills development program. These are not basic skills. The different centres aim to enhance and improve the addict’s capabilities and morale to re-integrate them back into society. Some of the skills are in the fields of maintenance, carpentry, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, etc.
Why is THE CHANGE ROOM RECOVERY CENTRE different?
We care. Our aim is to save lives and in turn, save families. All staff will be recovering addicts that have gone through the above program adding to its dynamics. One of the main focuses are the underprivileged, homeless, street kids and youth. We strongly believe in instituting hope back into the hopeless, faith back into the faithless and use back into the useless.
