I escaped extremely abusive 5 year marriage (together for 12) with my two boys (10&4) on the 1st of Feb 2022 (Tuesday), we fled for safety late in the evening with literally the clothes that we had on, and a small bag with nappies and clothes for the boys and important documents, when this “man” went out to the bar to party with what little money we had at the time. I was issued with an interim protection order (PO) on the 4th of Feb (Friday), after being constantly berated by his family. Lucky i got to fetch my personal belongings on the 6th of Feb (Sunday) but he already cleared out all the valuables (TV’s, Fridges, beds, hid the second car, which i was using – not that wanted anything from him, but my kids needed to survive and not pay the price) and we could get our clothes and some furniture which i have great sentimental value from my late father and grandfather.

Now I’m facing off against my abuser in court. Although I’m blessed to have angels that is helping with some of the expenses relating to therapy and legal costs, they underestimated the total costs involved, but having the best unfortunately costs money thus I’m requesting your help.

We have four court cases currently:

Domestic Violence Court – I’m fighting to get the protection order made final as this ‘man’ works in armed response and has applied for a firearm license. He has the means to cause us serious harm (I went through every abuse imaginable, emotional, verbal, mental, physical, financial and sexual abuse at the hands of a man that was supposed to love and protect me.)

Children’s Court – He is suing me for joint custody, and sleepover every second weekend, and claiming alienation. He had supervised visits, but this was stopped due to the ongoing emotional and mental abuse inflicted upon my 10-year-old. He contacts them via Video Calls, but still continue the abuse, and i have now stopped this as well.

Divorce Court – As i have no interest in going back to this man, now he is halting the divorce process with secondhand abuse via the legal system

Maintenance Court – He is refusing to pay child support, and we are struggling financially.

My boys are in much needed therapy and i will need these reports for court. I’m getting NO financial assistance from the abuser in regard to therapy and doctors costs or even living expenses for the boys. My 10-year-old is struggling especially bad, and has extreme trauma, he gets anxiety attacks and is struggling to sleep and eat. He is struggling in school and might be failing his grade. He is undergoing trauma therapy now but is struggling so much to open and speak out. My 4-year-old is also in therapy and has regular meltdowns and has regressed and is back on nappies, and mostly behaving like a baby. He is struggling to sleep is very much attached to his “blanky”. Both the boys have separation anxiety and always want to with me.

Being a mother and healing from abuse has been the most difficult of this journey. I have to ensure that my boys have a sense of normalcy around them while trying to navigate myself through therapy and building a new safe environment. I’m currently on anti-anxiety medication, anti-depressants and sleeping pills, as i suffer from Depression, CPTSD, and nightmares. I NEED to protect these boys from their father, not some stranger, THEIR FATHER who was supposed to protect and love them.
