Jean-Michael is a 10-year-old brown belt from White River, Mpumalanga, who has been practicing Shotokan Karate since the age of 5, as well as playing rugby for his school’s A-Team since Grade 1, he also has his Provincial Puma colours in Gymnastics and Wrestling. At the Shotokan SA’s in 2016 Jean-Michael attained a gold medal for kata and a gold medal for kumite, in 2017 he received a silver medal for each and in 2018 he received two silver medals for his individual competition as well a bronze medal for team kata. He has once again qualified for the Shotokan South African Championships that will take place in Cape Town this year and we aim to get him there so this young karateka can once again showcase his skill and abilities and continue to live his dream.
