My name is Ronica Singh. I am a software developer and promote educational training in IT skills, both development and technical, from Durban, South Africa. I started a developer chat group for some of the local South African students/workers looking to get into programming or trying to find work in the field of software or web development and even game development (which I am highly trying to promote here in Durban). The group chat was extended to anyone interested and want help in the IT education and working system. One of those group members is a high school student, in his 11th grade. His name is Christian Onyedikachi Ndubuisi. Up until February 2019, he was using his sister’s laptop to do his studies and computer programming homework; until the old laptop died on him. Unable to repair it as it costs more than buying a new laptop (and he is financially unable to), he is now struggling because he is not allowed to attend his computer programming classes without his laptop. His school in Nigeria does not have computers to teach computer students about computer programming. I reached out to some of my developer group members, and one suggested GoFundMe, so here I am.
I asked him some time ago why he wants to study or go into the IT development field. He said so he can leave his home country (not for good) to get a good job as a developer and support his mother. Christian, as a high school student, has a passion to get into the development field as much as I did, I will not allow his not having a laptop be his setback. I’m asking anyone willing to donate any small amount you can afford towards his laptop.
