As recently as 3 months ago I was diagnosed with terminal cancer called Multiple Myeloma. Sadly, my doctor has concluded that my treatment in South Africa will only give me a life span of a few years whereas moving back to UK will prolong it triple that amount if treatment agrees with me as the UK has about 3 more advanced treatments that does not exist in South Africa or Africa for that matter.
After many emails and sending my diagnoses and hospital letters to Guys, they have accepted me for treatment as soon as I can arrive in the UK. The treatment here will only last until the end of December by which my doctor expects me to fly to the UK to pursue further treatment to prolong my life. I am British but need to renew my passport and pay for air and on arrival three nights’ accommodation and getting around before I check in at Guys.
I used to work in travel and tourism, but Covid also hit us agents the hardest worldwide that some of us are still jobless and can’t find work, so it’s been a very difficult 3 years to say the least and having cancer is a real deflater. But I keep positive as I still want to walk my daughter down the aisle someday and thus have to get to the UK to extend my time on this Earth of ours.
