We are abused, we are assaulted, we are harassed, we are put down.
We are living in a broken world where people are afraid to walk the streets, to attend university, to go to the post office. My name is Ashley and I am 19 years old and I am a woman. This year, I am on a gap year and have decided to take up the challenge of creating an art exhibition. My project focuses specifically on Women’s rights and nudity and the various abuses her body faces from society.
I want to raise a social consciousness about this abuse. This project is solely for the community as the funds will be used to buy the materials needed and to finding a space to show the works. Especially in a time like this, I want to contribute to making a difference in society. To giving women a place to speak up, to feel supported and having funds will make this dream happen.
South Africa is enduring a dark time. I believe creating this art exhibition will bring people together and allow them the space to talk about issues and feel safe. I want to shed a little bit of light in this dark time, and I want you to feel a part of it.
